1. Core Narrative & Audience Outcomes
The team refined the narrative framework to deliver specific outcomes for different audience groups:
- Primary Audience (Makers): Providing visibility, credibility, and network expansion.
- Secondary Audience (Community Members): Offers networking, skill workshops, and collaborative opportunities.
- Tertiary Audience (General Public): Spark curiosity, showcase hands-on making, and invite future participation.
2. Event Timeline & Sponsorship Constraints
The team discussed the prior proposal to shift the event timeline to January.
- Jazeel noted that companies allocate CSR budgets in Q3, which may impact our sponsorship drive if we extend the timeline too early.
- Shan OG advised against modifying timelines based on predicted challenges. The committee resolved to maintain the current execution timeline, collect actual sponsor commitments, and defer extensions until hard constraints require them.
3. Community-Led Narrative Development
To ensure the marketing matches community interests, the team will run informal interviews:
- Key questions to answer:
- Why are we running Maker Faire Kochi?
- Why does this edition matter?
- Who is it for, and what makes it unique?
- The communication strategy will answer these questions directly.
4. Maker-Centric Storytelling
Rather than standard bios, maker registration and onboarding will focus on storytelling:
- Highlighting their personal maker journey, design challenges, open source contributions, and motivation.
